It's Easter already, spring lambing time for us. The Dorset sheep are lambing officially now and it's a relief that the majority of the pedigree sheep are lambing when they are supposed to.
Thankfully the 'Mystery' lamb was a one off and is still a mystery with an absent father – no one is admitting responsibilities. Mystery is a ewe lamb and is drawing crowds of admirers now in the small paddock next to the car park in front of the free range hens. For company she and her mother have been joined by a Dorset Horn Ewe and her two lambs which were very tiny when born, although still on the small side they are very healthy and bounce around with Mystery.
We were hoping to have our new ice cream serve over open by now but a series of delays and problems with equipment means that it will probably be another week yet.
Laura is still beavering away at the new web site and it is 'almost' !!!!! ready.
I will be relieved when it's up and running as she's going mad with frustration and sits at the computer making funny noises when things don't go to plan.
Aaron is getting into the sheep dog training and we hardly ever see him without Roy these days. Fortunately for Aaron there are signs that spring is here and the grass is growing at last. He spends most of his week feeding cattle so when they can eat grass he can heave a sigh of relief.
The cattle buildings are virtually finished at Wood Farm so next year should be much easier.
Personally I am looking forward to Whit Friday which means winter is really over.
