Head chef rolls in
We are delighted to announce the appointment of local lad, Mark Pemberton, who comes to us from his previous role as Head Chef at The Old Bell Inn, Delph.
Mark has always impressed us with his clear passion for high quality, locally sourced ingredients, as well as his highly skilled natural abilities in the kitchen, so we were delighted to hear that he wanted to join us when our vacancy at Albion Farm came up. Looking for more sociable hours so he can spend more time with his young family, Mark felt that this would be the perfect role for him without compromising his need to use locally sourced, quality ingredients.
Raised in Saddleworth, he attended Dobcross School as a youngster and continued secondary education at Saddleworth School. On leaving Saddleworth, he worked through various levels of catering, gaining higher levels of experience along the way.
Mark started his catering career working from the bottom, when at 14 years’ old he started as a kitchen porter and pot washer. After being offered a job at the Moorcock Inn, Littleborough, the owner soon recognised his ability and enthusiasm in catering and offered him an apprenticeship, to which he has never looked back.
Aged 16, Mark moved away from Saddleworth to work at Gleneagles, the World-famous 5 Star Luxury Hotel in Scotland. Here he gained a multitude of experience which enthused him for the future. Returning with this experience and knowledge, he came home to Saddleworth settling in firmly at The Old Bell Inn, Delph.
Eight years’ on, whilst working through a recession and making changes to the menus to keep the restaurant busy, Mark has built himself an excellent reputation and is quite the local hero, helping to establish the Old Bell Inn as a high quality dining experience.
On his new role, Mark said; "Albion Farm has given me a fantastic opportunity to utilise their home grown ingredients, and to give them their deserving stature! I am a chef that never stands still and loves the industry! My new life with Albion will cement us together for exciting new projects and events."
Albion Farm are constantly striving to improve our experience, so naturally we are extremely excited to begin working with Mark. Watch this space for more exciting announcements!
