Introducing our new Head Butcher

After our well respected Head Butcher, Dean Crowther, expressed to us his wish to concentrate more on his technical skills, which are at the very top of his game, and less on the managerial side, we started the long process of looking for a Head Butcher who could bring to us something that no one else could offer. This was such a hard task that it took us almost 2 years!

On meeting Kyle we immediately recognised his passion, his drive and his enthusiasm for providing a top class Butchery service. Kyle already has a number of impressive achievements under his Butchery Knife, including Apprentice of the Year, which allowed him to begin the level 3 Meat Science Diploma, where he was awarded Outstanding Student of The Year and granted Honouree Membership to the Institute of Meat by HRH Princess Anne.

Kyle was recognised as one of the top Young Butchers within the UK and chosen to represent his nation in multiple Butchery competitions on an international scale, competing in both Holland and then Frankfurt.

On his return to the UK, Kyle was involved in managing Butchery departments within Award Winning farm shops, before moving on to become the Head Butcher of a large catering establishment which supplied top hotels, restaurants and gastro pubs within London, incorporating well known chefs such as Marco Pierre White.

Kyle has been involved in many food festivals and events, including York Main, Bronte Steam Gathering and visiting schools to demonstrate food providence awareness. It is with this Kyle became involved in leading butchery classes for the Rare Breed Society Trust and educational lectures for aspiring trainee veterinarians.

After over 8 years in his last position and now a proud new father, Kyle wanted to find an establishment which allowed him the creativity he thrives on, but also gave him the sociable hours to spend time with his family.

On his new appointment Kyle wrote, “Albion Farm Shop is an amazing platform for me to continue my work within the meat industry as its core values of animal welfare, providence, amazing quality and enthusiasm, match my own. To become part of the Albion Farm family is a privilege and an exciting opportunity.”

Newly crowned Assistant Head Butcher, Dean Crowther, also welcomed his arrival stating, “I am very proud to have worked at Albion Farm as Head Butcher for the last 9 years. I’ve treated it as if it were my own, with a great amount of care, bringing top quality meat and service. I am looking forward to a big change and a challenge for myself and our team, working in partnership with a young, talented and forward thinking Butcher. We aim to bring the team together to produce new and exciting produce for all our customers, whilst striving to be one of the best Award Winning Butchery departments and Farms Shops in the UK”

We can't wait to see these two fabulous Butchers working together, and appreciate how lucky we are!
