April Fools Day/Easter Sunday

1ST APRIL

We all love a good joke, and we have a few things up our sleeve this April fools!

For an easy April fools, why not trick your family with a Stuart Thornley cake pork pie or cake scotch egg? With a creme egg centre and chocolate fudge brownie coating, the cake scotch egg makes both a unique Easter gift and April fools trick!

If you're in our Cafe, some of Stuart's Easter themed cakes will also be available for you to indulge in, and we'll of course be serving our much loved Sunday Roast dinner.

The butchers know its hard to get the all the family to sit down and enjoy a meal together, so to do our bit to help you get that quality time, we have a selection of roasting joints ideal for that home cooked Sunday lunch.

Will you go for the old time favourite of a nice square cut topside, lean yet succulent? Or
more in the swine frame of mind?

Nothing beats a large piece of outdoor reared pork leg with great crispy crackling, a must for any Sunday lunch!

International Carrot Day

4TH APRIL

Many people overlook the simple carrot but here at Albion Farm we love them!

That's because we stock locally grown bunched carrots, chantenay and tri colour in addition to the basic everyday carrot. We use them in cakes, soups, stir frys and stews, they're not just for rabbits!

We'll also be enjoying some delicious carrot cake in the cafe!

Loaded with vitamin A and antioxidants, these veggies protect against cancer, reverse signs of aging and improve our vision - no wonder it's a day to celebrate!

World Health Day

7TH APRIL

Here at Albion Farm we love our fruit and veg, and pride ourselves on sourcing quality fruit and veg that you can't find in the supermarket.

Dependent on season, you will find all sorts of unique fruit and vegetables; including yellow courgettes, kohl rabi, mini parsnips, kumquats and globe artichokes, but our favourite of them all is the cocktail avocado.

With NO STONE, it's the perfect no mess option for a healthy breakfast, lunch or smoothie! That's right, why not add the cocktail avocado to your favourite smoothie to give extra creaminess? It works a treat!

This World Health Day, why not pick a fruit or vegetable you have not yet tried and experiment with a new recipe?

Our staff will be happy to help with ideas and inspiration.

We asked our Head Butcher Kyle how important meat is in a staple diet, and he couldn’t wait to tell us!

'Meat based protein is fundamental to a rich, healthy lifestyle. We all know that meat proteins are the building blocks of muscle, cartilage, skin and bone. But what a lot of people don’t know is that meat provides over 10 essential vitamins and minerals. Each one essential to the bodily functions we take for granted, ranging from helping the nervous system function to the production of new red blood cells.

The big meat scares are stigmas from past generations - now, with the ability to shop with butchers dedicated to quality, and as important affordability, a meat rich diet is now available to everyone.'

St George's Day

23RD APRIL

We love all things English, so the closer to our hearts the better.

Today we honour the dragon slayer St George by feasting on English food and drink! Whether you decide on a pie and pint, or cosy stew, be sure to pop to Albion Farm for your feast of food.

The butchers are in full swing to show what is close to our Saddleworth hearts, with our very own Moor reared mutton, which will be on special offer all weekend to show you what the 'best of British' means to us.

Mutton is known for its deep rich texture with an intense taste that surpasses lamb. Great for all slow cooking options, and we think the best meat for any curry!

brit beef.jpg

British Beef Week

23RD APRIL - 1ST MAY

British Beef is what and who we are.

This special week highlights the produce and ethos the butchers stand for here at Albion Farm.

All our beef is hung on the bone for a minimum of 21 days to ensure maximum taste with a tender bite.

Did you know the beef we use are Welsh Black Cattle?

They are one of the oldest breeds in Britain and date back to before Roman times. The breed are great for foraging on the hills, provide less problems during calving - luckily for the farmer.  Above all else, they are one of the most hardy breeds so are ideal for life on the Moors.

Be sure to give the Butchery a visit for exciting new beef dishes that will solve your meal time dramas!

On the deli you will find steak and ale, meat and potato, and beef and blue cheese pies - plus some one-off creations to showcase the best of British Beef.

sloemotion.jpg

World Whisky Day

19TH MAY

For a day of global whisky celebration, all you need is a bottle of whisky and a friend to share it with!

We recommend Sloemotion Whisky from York. which is available in two expressions;

Sloe whisky: With a long and rounded finish of delicious, smoky earthy tones, this is British countryside in a bottle. It is scrumptiously fruity and at the same time seriously grown up!

Bramble whisky: A delicate blend of Scotch whisky and wild blackberries, it can often be described as similar to mulled wine, with a whisky kick and a frilly fringe of fruit.
